TRC #209

Recently Pat has been joining the show as a regular panelist.   Pat was talking with Elan about Skrillex and Elan mentioned not knowing who that was.   What better reason for a parody!   This episode features a parody of Skrillex’s bangarang.

TRC #208

Pat was a guest on 207 and 208.   When Elan had a bit of trouble with the words “syllogisms” and “chutzpa,” Darren started spitting a rap including the two words with Adam beatboxing along.    Pat threatened to put it to music and edit it in as a the show’s opening theme.   He made good on that threat.

TRC #205

This week’s show features a parody of Young Blood by New Zealand band The Naked and Famous.  This was largely an effort by Cristina who wrote the lyrics and sang.   Pat sang some backups and, as usual, produced the song.

TRC #201

At Darren’s request, this week included a parody of Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice, Baby. This tied into a segment which Darren did on ice diets. Pat couldn’t resist the opportunity to give a “shout out” to Ottawa Skeptics member and guest panelist, Dana Peters, and to give a plug for his wonderful iOS application; planets.

TRC #198

Episode 198 was Jon’s last as the host of TRC before leaving for a new job in California and giving up the helm as president of the Ottawa Skeptics.   This parody of Blink 182’s Miss You was Pat’s way of saying “thanks and good luck” to his friend.

Little Talks by Iceland’s “Of Monsters and Men” is this weeks parody.  When Pat heard the song on the radio, there was little doubt in his mind it would be used as an opening for TRC.

The 1965 Simon and Garfunkel hit Sounds of Silence is this week’s parody.   With Cristina taking the Garfunkel part and Pat taking the Simon part.   Mostly because Pat would not be able to stop laughing if he was Garfunkel.

With Cristina away at the Junos, Pat was on his own for this parody.   LMFAO’s hit Sexy and I Know It gets the skeptical treatment for this week’s episode of the show.

Bass Down Low by Dev and The Cataracs is this weeks parody.   Initially, the song was to be released as The Cataracs with Dev as the featured act, but she was made the main artist as they believed it would be a suitable follow-up to Far East Movement’s “Like a G6”.  This was one of those parodies that was an editing job and a half.

When you’re gone, the duet by Melanie C (of Spice Girls fame) and Bryan Adams is this weeks parody.   Not for any good reason, Pat just heard it on the radio and decided it was a pretty friggin’ good pop song.
